About the Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced workshop leaders to join our pool of practitioners to run ad-hoc workshops primarily in Stratford-Upon-Avon, but also potentially in West End studios (London) and in schools across the UK. We are ideally seeking practitioners with experience in any of the following fields:

- Drama: acting, storytelling, Shakespeare, devising and physical theatre
- Musical Theatre: acting, singing and dance

Practitioners are provided with lesson plans and resources, along with information about the group taking part, which can be tailored as required to meet the needs of the students. They may work individually or as part of a team to deliver a high standard of drama and theatre experience.

The majority of schools we work with are secondary, but we run programmes for children and young people aged 4-21.

Full training will be provided on best practice, lesson planning, delivery of classes, safeguarding and on health and safety.

Pay:
The practitioner will be employed on a freelance, self-employed basis. Rates vary depending on the nature of the workshop, with fees starting at £25-£30ph for a minimum of two hours. This is to include the planning of lessons, delivery, and post lesson reporting.
Travel costs will be covered along with necessary accommodation and travel time.

Requirements

All applicants MUST meet the following requirements:


  • Have a minimum three years of professional experience in your field, such as in acting, directing, dance, etc.

  • Prior teaching experience in schools, youth theatres, stage schools, or similar settings

  • Have as valid enhanced DBS certificate, preferrably with the live update service - WE CANNOT EMPLOY YOU WITHOUT THIS!

  • Be confident, engaging and friendly

  • Be passionate about Drama and Theatre

  • Be able to plan and adapt lesson plans as required

  • Be able to run workshops solo with groups of up to 30 children or young people


In addition, the following criteria are desired, but not essential:

  • Be professionally trained to degree level or drama school equivalent, 

  • Have all-round theatre and performance from Shakespeare to musical theatre, classical to devised performance

  • Play an instrument

  • Have a good knowledge of drama and theatre practice and styles of performance.
