London Art workshops

Theatre Workout now offers its own Art Workshops in the heart of central London, led by professional artists in our West End studios.

We are also collaborating with other art organisations, galleries and exhibitions across London to provide other bespoke art experiences, to inspire and educate the next generation of artists and art enthusiasts, all delivered by their own professional artists.

Sketching & Drawing Workshops

Led by Theatre Workout's own teaching artists, this two-hour session can be tailored to your group's learning objectives, with a choice of materials.

Workshops take place in studios across central London, or in parks and gardens such as Trafalgar Square, St James' Park, and Hyde Park (weather permitting).

Prices are based on a base rate for the venue hire and artist, plus the resources required for each student, where they get their own sketch pad and set of art materials - pencils, pastels, or charcoal.

Set Design Workshop

Set Design is an integral part of any theatre production - it creates the world in which the production is set, it informs the choices actors make in their performance, and the choices the director makes when bringing a production to life.

Set Design workshops, led by a professional Set Designer, explore the creative process of designing a set and props as part of the core Creative Team, from concept to build, through to performance.

It will set challenges for groups to consider themes, theatre spaces, scale and budgets as they develop their own set design concepts.

Stage Makeup Demonstrations

Delivered by professional make-up artists, this demonstration workshop covers all the basics of stage make-up design and application with professional industry tips, and can take place in London's West End.

90 minute demonstration covers:

The design process including style, genre and recording techniques
Application technique for stage and film
Demonstrations of different 'looks' on students inspired by current productions

Extended 2.5 hour workshop options include special effects, such as cuts and scars, wigs, hair and prosthetics.

Due to additional equipment required, a surcharge applies of £150 per workshop on top of Theatre Workout's standard workshop prices.

Masterpeace Mindful Painting Workshop

A 90-minute experience where you can choose one design from our collection of beginner-friendly art kits. Everything you need to create your masterpiece will be provided. Come away with your beautiful artwork in a gift box feeling proud! Our artist instructor will guide you through a fun step-by-step process to assist you on your creative journey. Be prepared to see how beautifully different everyone’s expression will come through at the end…

Animation Workshop

This workshop is a great way to inspire your kid's creative minds through the use of film! Follow in the footsteps of classic stop motion children's TV and films like Shaun the Sheep, Wallace and Gromit and more.

In this crafty workshop, adults and kids will have everything they need to create stage sets, props and more so you can work together on making a mini video. A friendly teacher will be on hand to guide you through 2D and 3D effects. Your will then go home with all the inspiration and top tips they need to keep making more incredible stop motion animation at home.

Minimum 10 people, two-hours from £49 per person, in an East London studio

Hand-Pottery Workshop

During the class, children will learn how to mould and shape air dry clay into various forms. They will be introduced to the basics of hand built pottery, while also having a blast playing games and participating in interactive activities. This class is designed to be both educational and entertaining, ensuring that your child has a memorable and enjoyable experience.

Working with clay is a tactile and sensory experience, allowing children to engage their senses and explore different textures. It encourages fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving – all while having fun! Your little one will have the opportunity to express their creativity, letting their imaginations run wild as they bring their clay creations to life.

Street Art Tour & Workshop

Fancy yourself as the next Banksy? Ever wanted to learn the techniques to create your own spray paint stencil art? Then join our Street Art Tour & Workshop!

After being inspired by London’s best graffiti and Street art, its back to the studio to try it for yourself in London’s only purpose built street art and graffiti workshop studio. Using a large selection of pre-prepared stencils, we provide a safe and fun environment for a unique hands on spray painting experience.

You will spray directly onto our graffiti walls using indoor paints in a fully ventilated environment. For a small additional fee, you can paint your own canvas or canvas bag to take away with you*.

We use the latest water based spray paints – the healthiest option for people and planet. We provide masks and gloves with optional aprons.

2.5-3 hour tour & workshop from £50 per person

Tate Britain & Tate Modern

While visiting either the Tate Britain or Tate Modern galleries, both renowned art galleries showcasing an extensive collection of modern and contemporary art, your group will participate in an interactive tour with sketching and simple collage activities in response to the artworks they see in the gallery during the tour.

The interactive tour lasts 90 minutes is led by a practising artist expert. Groups of up to 15 people from £420
