The Railway Children Official Workshop
Set in a brand new, purpose built 1,000 seat venue, this breathtaking show features a stage built around a real train track, and a beautiful 60 tonne vintage locomotive that steams into the theatre to delight all ages.
A truly unique theatrical experience, The Railway Children returns to London after winning the Olivier Award for BEST ENTERTAINMENT in its previous home at Waterloo.
Don't miss your chance to join Bobbie, Peter and Phyllis on the adventure of a lifetime as they tell the story of how they became The Railway Children.
An educational drama workshop has been developed which can be offered across the board to any student group. It aims to explore the central themes within the production, such as family, friendship, danger and risk and doing right and wrong, delivered through the use of drama games and performance techniques, such as storytelling, role-play and improvisation.
Where possible, this workshop is related to techniques used by the show’s creators in the development and rehearsal of the production, enabling students to experience the processes used in the creation of the show by the cast.
Aimed at more experienced students at GCSE and A-Level, this workshop will explore professional acting techniques, such as developing characters through physicality, voice and speech while exploring the production’s central themes before devising scenes inspired by scenes from the play and book.
Subject to availability, scenes from the play may be worked on and staged during the workshop.
