These workshops teach performance techniques while exploring various aspects of the production, designed to build confidence, engage creativity and prepare students for their theatre visit.
Musical Theatre workshops are an obvious option for many groups, and this session will explore general musical theatre technique, focusing on the concept of 'Acting Through Song', while also exploring themes, characters and stories from the show. Students will work with songs and scenes from the show, accompanied either by piano, backing tracks or cast recordings, performing a song at the end of the workshop as a group. This is an ideal workshop option for more experienced drama groups.
Advanced groups may also opt for a professional audition masterclass, in which a professional casting workshop is presented, teaching groups choreography and songs from the show in real-time, challenging them to perform to the best of their ability.
With a focus on drama, this workshop is ideal for most student groups. Workshops may include acting, storytelling and devising exercises inspired by characters, stories and themes from the show, such as friendship, changing times, politics and changing culture.
In addition, students may explore the Rashomon Effect, and the telling of stories from different characters perspectives. Through improvisation games inspired by the show, stories will be discovered which will be further
developed by the group to explore changing perspectives.
